Greece was a fairly enjoyable adventure. I will say that I had something else in mind about how the trip would turn out versus what really happened. Live and learn. But with that being said, the kids had a great time even though the weather turned out to be chilly. And Keith read 3 books that week, so after a particularly demanding work schedule, he was completely relaxed.
Upon our arrival to Athens, we surprised the kids with a Segway tour of the acropolis. They already thought it was the best vacation ever. We went all over the ruins of Athens and only had one incident of where I almost killed myself on this crazy fun machine.
Athens is a HUGE city. There is a monastery on the one lone hill.
That is a temple was was built in 449 BC and is still intact!
Theater of Herrod Atticus built in 161 AD - they still use it only for a couple weeks out of the year for concerts and such.
Various Pictures around Athens
Very inexpensive and delish fruit
Athens has a massive stray dog problem, but as you can see they all get fed very well. They even put collars on them- but they are all homeless none the less.
We got caught up in a massive bike race that lasted for hours!
And just before we jumped on the boat to go island hopping- we decided to buy one more duffel bag for the goodies we were going to gather.

Shawn. we bought the strawberries. We got a sack full for 2 Euros. Though the exchange rate is horrible these days- that is still a great deal for properly ripened fruit. And the machine that I almost DIED on was that Segway. At one point I could not stop it and was yelling for people to get out of my way because it kept going faster and faster. My life flashed before my eyes until I readjusted my feet and got it under control again.
