I say that with the most affection because I only bring home the junk that I find absolutely lovable! Keith, Jadyn and I went to a market yesterday in Neumarkt. It was huge! Lots of stuff to rummage through. Keith found all the military goodies and made the sellers education him about it. I found the ONE linen guy who I also bought stuff from in Munich. He is quite a character!
He calls his stuff bad names in German (starts with an SH) and it is almost like he can't believe I want to buy it. He treats his stuff bad too. Everything is wet and smells of mildew. He smokes right by his fabrics and I even saw him ash is cigarette on one. I about died!!! But I dug through it all and rescued some great stuff that I am now rehabbing.
You might think this is gross but I just see the beauty of it coming through! This is hard work!!!
This would be a 100 years of dirt coming off my sacks. Jadyn filled the tub up and keeps a healthy supply of OxyClean going into the water.
Keith bought a vintage backpack thing. It was something he couldn't walk away from. I get it, Keith!
It had an unfortunate smell so it is taking a bath also.
I was lucky to find this with another seller. They are nightgowns in pristine condition, made of handwoven linen and completely hand sewn. The detail is amazing! (And you know your German is bad when you ask the seller "how much does this cost? in German and she answers you in English! LOL)
It is monogrammed! Do you see the gathering in the back of the neck. Hand sewn people! I even think people alive today could do this.
Once again, AMAZING! Notice the perfect pleating on the sleeve and the extra decorative details. Who ever made this, it took them many, many hours. I scored two of these. Last night I tried one one. Even though it was meant for a nightgown, I was messing around with belting it at the waist. It was super cute. They will be put up on Etsy soon enough.
And of course, couldn't leave the market without buying the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers!
